The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published this report in September. This is one of the largest  research ever done on energy performance, combining data from over 35,000 buildings. A great read for understanding the value and benefits of energy benchmarking.

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economoy ranks world's 12 largest economies each year  under for criteria: Buildings, Industries, Transportation and overall National Effort to be energy efficient. This year Canada performed very badly, 2nd from the last! Only Russia performed worse, landing on the last place.
