The idea behind our solution is very simple. Retrieve your energy data, turn it into valuable information, and present it in real-time to generate awareness. Our solution is delivered via an enterprise-class IT infrastructure designed to seamlessly scale and evolve to meet increasingly complex energy challenges.

How does it work?

The SHIFT Energy Management system is comprised of a small amount of equipment on the customer premises, a state of the art data centre, and a robust and secure Web-based IT infrastructure that provides a real-time energy management solution via your web browser.

The SHIFT solution CPE continuously monitors energy related data, and sends this data through a secure internet "tunnel" to our Data Center. A proprietary Analysis and Recommendation Engine processes this data to produce insightful information. The information is then fed through our easy-to-use dashboard via a client's web browser. This is shown in the figure below:

1	Customer premises equipment (CPE) are deployed at the customer site that obtain energy consumption data directly from a device, such as a meter, motor, pump, HVAC system, boiler, etc. This can be done in a number of different ways, depending on whether there is a control system already in place or not. SHIFT has developed proprietary technology called an Energy Management "kit" to accomplish this.
2	Raw data from the energy-consuming device is then encrypted and transmitted over the public internet or a private network to the SHIFT data centre.
3	This data is then analyzed in the SHIFT data centre using proprietary algorithms and data analytics software.
4	Presentation of the final information to customers is done through an intuitive and easy to use dashboard, with accompanying detailed reports and statistics. Our Energy Experts review the reports before sending recommendations to the customer.

We recognize that in a typical commercial or institutional building, there can be multiple management postitions with differing roles and responsibilities. For example, an operations manager may run the entire property, but there could be a different person responsible for paying the energy bills. There are also people who work or live in the building. All of them affect the way energy is consumed in that property.
